I moved to the Myrtle Beach area from Lexington, Virginia, after a ten-year basketball-coaching career at Virginia Military Institute. During my tenure, my 1976 VMI team rose to the top of the conference, earning a trip to the NCAA tournament and advancing all the way into the "Sweet Sixteen". Our record that year was 26 to 4, and I received the Conference Coach of the Year.
